AMAZING PROCESS: Soapstone is quarried brought to the surface by hand the master carvers create the shape with precision using basic hand tools. The stone is first cut using a hand saw a panga (large broad-bladed knife) and “adze” (hoe) used to reduce to the required basic shape, knives (kisu), sandpaper & water are used to get the smooth finish. Kisii chora (artists) create the design using water-based dyes a knife to etch the detail design, an amazing one-of-a-kind unique art.
